My response to this photograph is that I think it describes how hard times were during the great depression. It is a small business trying to make a living but there is no one around that has the money to buy from them. If I had two questions to ask this photographer I would ask what is in the backround to the right because I am not sure. The other question i would ask is why did he or she take the picture at the time?
Dorthea Lange took this photograph. It was published in July,1936.
The setting of this phto is outdoors. It has natural lighting. It is rural. It looks like it is high noon.
There are two people. They look about nine and fourteen. They are wearing working clothes. They are African American. There are no dstingushing features. What catches my eye first is them working.
It is fields. It is pretty big and more fields surrond it.
Heavy or light? The tone of the photo is light. It is negative. Once again it has a lightertone.
My response to this photo is a bad one. I do not beileive in child labor. I do not think this is right. It is not fair to the children to have to work to support their families. Another question I would ask the photographer is

There are no people in this photograph. The distingushing features are that the prices are so low compared to what they are tody. What caught my eye first was he low prices printed on the window.
The structures in this phtograph is a buissness. It looks like it is in great condition. It looks medium sized in there as well. The surroundings of this structure are a café and some other small buissnesses.

My response to this photo is that even though we maythink the prices were low back then, they really were not. People were struggling to get by and it was a terrible time period for america. There were also no people in this phtot to buy anything from those two buissnesses.
Write two questions that you might ask the photographer or the subjects of the picture if you had the opportunity to learn more about the photograph or / and its subject(s).
I would ask the photographer why he chose this certain grocery store to take a photo of. I would also ask him why no people were in it too.
